I don't know about you, but I love starting a new sewing project. There's something about the anticipation of choosing the fabrics, designing the pattern and then finally getting stuck in with the sewing that just makes me happy. I had been thinking about making a patchwork quilt for a while, so when I received the beautiful indigo cotton fabrics at Sunnyside Fabrics UK I knew it was time to get started.

I'm using Indigo Elements cotton fabric designed by Stuart Hillard. This fabric is so beautiful, and I love the colors. I'm a little behind on my sewing projects, so I'm trying to use some pre-cut fabrics to save me some time. quilt blocks can be made in half the time that it would take to cut out all of the pieces by hand. I'm really excited to see how this quilt turns out.




I think these fabrics will appeal to teenagers in particular. The indigo and navy blues are always a winning combination, and the crisp white cotton fabric is the perfect match for them. With the tie dye element, this fabric is sure to stand out. I can't wait to get started!




I have a plan! I'm going to sew blocks using light and dark fabrics, with white in between to really highlight the navy. This will be a great project to use up some of the fabric stash I've been gathering, and it will be a lot of fun to see how the different fabrics look together. I'm thinking of making it a quilt, but it would also be cute as a throw or a table runner. 





I've been busy working on this quilt project, and I'm excited to share some progress with you. I'm using the Indigo Elements fabric range designed by Stuart Hillard, and the White Textured Blender by Craft Cotton Company. I use this range of blenders a lot as they tend to work well with other fabrics.  I love the bold geometric shapes and colors. The fabric is really lovely to work with, and the blocks are already sewn—I just need to add the sashing and then the quilt top will be finished. I can't wait to see it all together!
